Great to be back!

Yes, it’s great to be back. Reality is, I was never gone … I just took a break. Over the past 14 years I’ve held multiple positions with an amazing company, most currently as a Regional Safety Advisor travelling between Alberta and BC.

It’s a busy life for sure, but one I love because I’m paid to look after people’s well-being, I can’t think of a greater role. During the past few years I’ve surrounded myself with not just music, but art. I work with polymer clay and mixed media with a focus on drawing and painting guitars.

Covid was a time of reckoning for me as I’m sure it was for many. It was during this time that songwriting and music, interestingly enough, went into warp drive. We were blessed to have other creative friends in our bubble, and between bottles of wine, great food, sleepovers, and laughs, songs were built …and a virtual kitchen party was born. Songs and stories went from the living room to hearts and minds in Canada, coast to coast, the US, and New Zealand. I’m grateful that this gave something back to me that I’d almost lost in life’s shuffle.

Coming out of COVID I had a want and a desire to return to the stage and I’m fortunate to have found some venues in and around Calgary who gave me an opportunity, and friends and acquaintances who have come to support and enjoy my songs and stories.

I’m in the middle of reflection at this stage of life, and have embarked on an ambitious project on top of seeking new opportunities to perform. I’m recording a new record and am releasing one song at a time as they’re completed. Over the past five years my basement has transformed into a small recording studio and I’ve been learning how to navigate recording software so I can record my music on my own.

It’s exciting, and ultimately, it’s hope. It’s not over, it’s just beginning, and it’s a new chapter in life. I look forward to seeing you out and about sharing songs and stories!
